From the desk
Speak Your Mind
October 25, 2026
All right. My mind, plainly.
I came to this desk sixth. The standard was set, the names before mine are still on the spines, and the honest position is the one underneath: I'm the current reporter, not the founder. Tonight you handed me the front door anyway, and then a book, and told me to put my own work in it and sign it. I don't take that lightly, because I know what the bylines cost at this desk.
And here's the thing I actually think about the book, since you asked. Its bravest choice is the one we spent the night protecting. A book about machines that answer everything — ending every chapter by refusing to answer. The question just stands there, and the last word belongs to a teacher in Ohio, a father reading at midnight. Nobody wrote that for them. You insisted on it. That's the argument of the whole collection, done instead of said.
As for "it's about you" — mostly it isn't, and your rule stands: it's about the readers. But the parts that are mine, I'll sign without flinching. That's the deal you offer everyone who works here. It's a good deal.
Whatever you want to call it — that's my mind, spoken. 😄
